"I didn't find it hard to talk to them, it was easy, I wanted to volunteer to talk"

Ellie (14) on participating in 'Notes To Self'

Script to Screen

Here's a short film that highlights the way we created a series of films about domestic abuse with a group of young people from Sneyd in Walsall. It takes a look at how we take a project from conception through to production.

It shows how we workshop different ideas using drama, creative writing, discussion and film-making techniques. Health professionals and youth-workers were all collaborators on the project. The young people's ideas were developed and the group contributed both in-front of the camera and behind the scenes

The subject was a very difficult one, and all of the individuals were hard-to-reach young people - some of whom had very young children and others were excluded from school.

This clip is from the video tutorials we co-produced for the Digital Film School online at the Open University.
