"I think the film project has been a tremendous success. I've watched the kids grow in confidence, grow in self esteem - and develop a sense of humour!"

Eddie Mahoney - Lead teacher Alternative Curriculum at Sneyd Community School reflects on Dark Water

Chewing The Cud: Memories from Hereford's Old Livestock Market

“A triumph. The film is such a professional piece of work and beautifully crafted and edited with some lovely devices and transitions to punctuate the stories. Warm, funny and with wonderful characters and also an important record of an important part of Hereford history”  - John Banks, Vice Chair of Borderlines film festival.

Hereford’s old livestock market was the stimulus for this exciting heritage project which brought people together from all over Herefordshire to share memories, gain skills, make a film, create a children’s exhibition and celebrate their shared agricultural history. The website contains the whole film, full interviews and lots more: www.chewingthecud.net

The film was made with volunteers (from 17-73 years old) working with Catcher and it features interviews with farmers, auctioneers, market traders and members of the public whose lives were all touched by this well-loved institution.

The film and Q&A toured the county showing in at least 41 venues. DVDs were distributed free to schools, libraries and history societies. It was voted 2nd best film at Borderlines Film Festival 2014.

Eight primary schools took created work inspired an Alfred Watkin's photograph of the market and put on a wonderful joint exhibition at St.Peter's Church.
