"Catcher Media impressed us enormously with their professional yet extremely accessible approach to film making. They were able to draw the best from a very wide range of participants."

ABOUT US

We're not a normal media company. We like to get people involved in hands-on film-making projects. It's more fun and you get great results. We tend to specialise in three main areas:

PARTICIPATION & CREATIVITY: These projects are primarily issue-based dramas bringing together groups to get their voices heard, and use video for educational and reflexive purposes. Watch this.

DOCUMENTARY & EVALUATION: These projects often highlight interesting social and arts initiatives, and can help organisations gain funding. Watch this.

PV & MEDIA TRAINING: Training is integral to many of our projects and we also enjoy sharing our expertise in participatory video (PV) techniques. Watch this.

Most projects are often a hybrid of the above. Watch this.

See Help I'm Hairy, Sexpert?, Tell Me More, Good News About Growing Up, Notes To Self, Because I'm Worthless, Is This What You Want?

We also like to take on reminiscence, healthy lifestyles, intergenerational and local interest subjects. We like variety and diversity. Check out: The Close In Living Memory, Fit Food, Farm Films

We have a long history of producing stylish and engaging educational films. We run exciting drama and film-making workshops and can tackle difficult issues.

We produce dramas & documentaries on many subjects including self-esteem, mental well-being, sexual health, domestic abuse and underage drinking. We also produce teaching activities and signposting.

We have run 100+ projects utilising drama, documentary, animation and video art.

Based in Hereford, we work regionally, nationally and internationally.

Our projects are mainly repeat work or word of mouth recommendations with clients that include The Welsh Assembly, NHS, Open University, DFID, FSA & National Children’s Bureau.

Rick and Julia Goldsmith are the directors of Catcher Media. We are involved in each and every stage of a project and we also work closely with a trusted pool of freelancers.

Therese Collins - Drama practitioner and writer. A long time collaborator in many of our issue based drama work.

Neil Oseman -  Editor and director of photography on many of our productions.  He also directs his own fantasy-adventure movies, including Soul Searcher, which was released internationally and won him a Channel 4 Ideas Factory Creative Class Award in 2005.

Chris High - Lecturer at the Open University and collaborator in PV development projects.

Innes Jones- Graphic designer and creator of our lovely website and many of our DVD graphics.

Ian Preece - Sound recordist and composer.

Chris Duffill, Nicky Duffy and Barney Philbrick are among our many musical contributors for soundtracks to the films. We always try and use composers whose work we know or can commission rather than library music.
