“It was a certainly a tremendous three days with our two Participatory Video facilitators; Rick Goldsmith of Catcher Media Social and Chris High from the Open University. We did not only focus on the use of advanced  equipment like the camera, tripod, monopods and microphones, but further learned and did practical activities on how to conduct interviews. This was very important for us, since we are more connected and will be working with our Indigenous communities in and around the North Rupununi in Guyana” - Grace Albert, Project Cobra in Guyana

Eddie Mahony teacher on MediaBox project

"Catcher impressed us enormously with their professional yet extremely accessible approach to film making. They were able to draw the best from a very wide range of participants, and quickly assimilate and portray fairly complex information, in an effective way. Catcher Media shaped our ideas with us and provided guidance when it was needed, and basically led us through a process which has produced excellent results." Lisa Williams
Assistant Director, Innovation, Transport and Environment, East Sussex County Council

'I've been fortunate to work closely with Catcher Media on a number of these projects over the last 10 years.  I've always found their capacity to engage almost anyone in constructive and creative dialogue and activity a tremendous asset.  It's unusual to find anyone whose commitment to participation is both realistic and born of conviction, and even more so an organisation with the skills and experience to facilitate it so well." Dr Chris High, Lecturer Open University

"Catcher Media provide an excellent package. Therese worked well to engage the young people and help them explore the sensitive topic of mental health. Pupils then had the opportunity to gain practical experience of the art of film-making which was a bonus to the process. Catcher Media creatively developed a storyline which got around the potential risk to pupils playing parts which depicted having a mental health problem. Their delivery was professional and communication excellent, they delivered to the timescales and were flexible in their approach. Well done Catcher!" Sallyann Sutton, Young People’s Health Advisor, Wellbeing, Walsall NHS

"In terms of value for money, Catcher Media were outstanding. They weren’t clock-watchers and their commitment to the project was absolute.

They worked with a range of group sizes, and their approach was completely inclusive. Some children had additional needs such as behavioural, SEN and physical disabilities. They engaged with every child in each class, working with a total of 125 children. Each child was totally represented, from the script to the final edit. Catcher Media enabled some very high quality collaborations between the children.

They have a highly ethical approach, and are able to deal with sensitive issues very carefully and intelligently. They were also extremely good to work with, and easy to get on with. They’re just lovely people and the children really warmed to them.

The end–product – the films were of extremely high quality, and beautifully filmed. The film was shown at The Courtyard to a sell-out audience of around 360 people and was then shown at four community screenings in rural areas. Many orders have been received for the DVD’s. The general public have fed back that they were extremely impressed by the DVD, and parents felt it was superb. Julie has had to commission another order of DVDs, as demand has exceeded expectations.

130 evaluations were received, and people were asked to make constructive criticisms. However, only positive comments were received." Julie Jones, Extended Schools Co-ordinator for the Kingstone cluster
