HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

Our largest body of work in the area of health and well-being is the Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) films for EasySRE . The award-winning website contains 12 dramas, interviews with young people, 34 webinars, 5 podcasts, signposting and much more. The guiding principles with all of these films has been to creatively involve young people, teachers and health professionals and to make the finished films engaging and informative.

However, not all of our films about health feature young people, as the compilation (above) proves.

The short films were part of the national NHS Health Check campaign which was played in GP surgeries throughout Walsall. The films show everyday Walsall people thinking about their health in the hope that it would encourage other Walsall adults aged 40-74 to get their health checked.

The scenarios were based on interviews with real Walsall people and were filmed in locations around Walsall.

Working with young people once more, but outside the parameters of EasySRE, Catcher Media were commissioned by Young Minds to create a suite of 21 films exploring Academic Resilience. Check out the dedicated page on our website for information about the project.

Many of Catcher’s projects are participatory in nature and have explored the following topics: Bereavement & LossSelf-esteem for Teenagers, Healthy Eating and in the trailer below, for ‘Talk The Talk’, parenting is the topic, and negotiating boundaries with your teenagers about relationships and sex.

The films are designed with young people for young people. The starting point for our participatory projects is to build a rapport with a group of children or young people to create safe spaces in which to discuss/workshop their experiences. Whatever the topic, we strive to educate and creatively involve every participant in the development of each film. NB: Professionals are involved at all stages to ensure the information we convey is correct and relevant.
