Experts from the School of Archaelogy at the University of Oxford sample a silver coin and ingot from the infamous Herefordshire Hoard. This short film catalogues their initial exploration of samples from the Hoard and shows Dr Jane Kershaw and Dr Stephen Merkel collect tiny fragments in order to discover the provenance of the silver. Thought to be from the time Alfred The Great defeated the Vikings did the silver come from the Ukraine or further afield in the Islamic Empire?
