HELP I’M HAIRY: PUBERTY AND GROWING UP

Help, I’m Hairy is a best-selling film which uses narration, animation, humour, fact files, advice from a health professional and Year 6-11 students to talk to young people about what happens physically and emotionally during puberty. And transition to secondary school!

All of the school-children involved in making this film responded well to humour. The subject of puberty and ‘private parts’ never fails to raise giggles and some embarrassment. But it was equally clear that the children were hungry for a film that presented them with facts and advice as well.

Help, I’m Hairy is very popular in Walsall schools and across the UK, because teachers have found it highly accessible and useful. Many schools also use it with Year 7 pupils, particularly the Just Wash sketch on hygiene!

This updated version of Help I’m Hairy, made for EasySRE, includes new footage, more interviews and an extra section devoted to the ‘Transition’ to secondary school. And there are lesson guides created by teachers to download as well. Teachers of Year 5,6 and 7 across the UK have found the film a great resource in teaching SRE. We hope you do too!

“It’s absolutely brilliant, so relevant and up-to-date. We’ve been looking for something to replace our current video and I was interested in your package that includes the lesson plans and resources too. That it is NHS-approved is a massive bonus.” — Emma Teacher, Hampshire.
