SNAGGED: RAISING AWARENESS ABOUT ONLINE GROOMING

Snagged is a short film designed to raise awareness among young people, teachers and parents about online grooming. Set in Walsall, it shows how online grooming, via apps and smartphones, is used to entice three young people into engaging in dangerous or illegal activities through drug running (county lines), child sexual exploitation (CSE) and radicalisation.

The film shows young people how important it is to seek help from friends, family and professionals, e.g. a police officer or health worker,
and concludes with friendly, upbeat tips about online safety.

Absolutely stunning” — Seona Baker, Education Safeguarding Co-ordinator, Walsall Council

The message is given in an easily accessible but non-victim blaming manner, enabling dialogue and effective learning.” — Esther Higdon, Senior Programme Development & Commissioning Manager, Public Health, Walsall

Snagged was made with the full involvement of students, health professionals and teachers from across Walsall. Aimed at key stages 3, 4 and 5, it is accompanied by lesson plans and signposting information on EasySRE. It has been successfully road-tested in schools and is designed to help teachers deliver their sessions with confidence.
