After being delayed for over a year (due to you-know-what) Catcher Media have FINALLY been able to run a series of creative workshops with students at Grace Academy, Walsall. The young people have been taking part in film-making and drama exercises with Rick and Therese in order to generate material for a new film about healthy relationships (and how to avoid unhealthy ones). The film is for NHS Walsall and, once made, will be free to all schools in the Walsall area.
Catcher have been providing participatory media productions for the EasySRE website for over 15 years.

It’ll explore what makes a good or bad relationship (including consent, boundaries, gaslighting, sexting, breaking up, communication tips and peer on peer sexual abuse) and will be inclusive, representing a broad range of relationships, including those from LGBTQ+ community. The group who have been COMPLETELY FANTASTIC will also act in and help out behind the scenes. The pictures are from our first three workshops.

Phil Miles, from Grace Academy says, “It’s been so good to get this project going as the students have been really looking forward to it for so long. And now it’s happening, they’re loving it.”
Carol Williams, from Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust adds, “The topics in this film are really important for young people and it’s so important for them to get the information they need so they can deal with these situations.”
Rick Goldsmith, from Catcher Media says, “It’s tough addressing all of these difficult issues in a short video but we’re excited by some of the group’s script ideas and we’re busy putting something together right now!”
