FILM-MAKING FOR SCHOOLS

Catcher Media have delivered a huge amount of creative media workshops throughout the years across the UK. We work as individuals as well as in partnership with other creatives such as poets, sculptors and playwrights. We use a myriad of creative techniques to bring different topics alive e.g. local heritage, Literacy, Science, Maths and IT. One enriching and long-standing partnership has been with Mark Sanderson at Herefordshire Council’s Learning and Achievement Service. Together, we have been running highly successful peer-mentor and teacher film-making training, for over 15 years, to a wide range of primary schools in Herefordshire.

We have seen many changes in technology over the years but the introduction of tablets such as the iPad has made film-making even more accessible to teachers and pupils alike. We offer intensive production and post-production training over two days to year 4-6 pupils and their teachers.

We provide a array of exciting online materials and follow-up support. School-children enjoy the premiere of their films at The Odeon in Hereford, with everyone dressed in their finest and awards duly given out.

Find out more about our recent work with 36 primary schools over 3 years as part of our Herefordshire Life Through a Lens project.

“This project has been invaluable to the children’s academic learning but in addition to this, it has taught them the importance of working together as a group, it has improved their speaking and listening skills and given them the confidence to try things that they might not normally do. Most importantly, the children have thoroughly enjoyed it and it has been a great success.” – Sarah George, Year 4 teacher St Francis Xavier primary, Hereford.
